The President, Vice-President , and Secretary/Treasurer constitute the garden's Executive Committee. These are elected positions. Yearly elections occur at the June Solstice garden meeting. The President overseas the philosophical and long range goals of the garden, and works to insure that garden operation s are conducted smoothly. He/she calls and conducts meetings when needed. These meetings, open to all gardeners, usually consist of at least 3 weekend potluck workdays each year as well as occasional evening meetings . The Vice-President works closely with the President, assuming the President 's duties when needed . The Secretary/Treasurer is the official custodian of all garden records.He/She keeps in a garden bank account, records of all monies received and paid out. Updated membership lists and current financial statements are made available when needed. The following positions, Garden Coordinator, Quartermaster, Commun ications Coordinator, and Area Coordinators are volunteers appointed by the Executive Committee . The Garden Coordinator oversees the collective effort of all gardeners. He/she serves as a liaison between the garden and other agencies, oversees the area coordinators, and maintains a waiting list of new gardeners. The Quartermaster oversees the maintenance needed to make the whole garden run smoothly. He/she maintains a garden equipment inventory and recommends repairs. The Communications Coordinator is mainly responsible for editing and publishing the Argonne Community Garden newsletter. The Area Coordinators serve as liaison between gardeners in the area and the garden as a whole. They assist the gardeners with their plots, coordinate work in common areas, and uphold garden standards. The names and phone numbers of elected officers and appointed volunteers are posted on the tool shed door.
