Argonne Leaders Meeting Decisions On Tuesday September 1st
David Sibbet (President), Kate Boyd (Treasurer) Patrick McBride (AC Dell & Secretary), Laura Del Rosso (Garden Coordinator), Ed Dierauf (President Emeritus), Sheree Kaslikowski (new AC Argonne Canyon & Orchard Conservator), and Jonathan Howland.

Sheree Kaslikowsk is replacing Tracy Stevens as area coordinator for Argonne Canyon

We want to make sure that:
Members who are unable to work their plots due to prolonged absence get acquainted with their adjacent plot holders to maintain a watering schedule.  Ed reiterated that gardening has its challenges, but if you're a new gardener do not allow yourself to get discouraged as there is always a new season with new plants that will begin sprouting.

According to Jonathan Rec and Park heavy equipment is responsible for delivery compost to our pile which has been running low.  It appears the scheduled deliveries have been curtailed so if any gardeners have access to an alternative compost supply and delivery truck please let the leadership know as we are exploring other options.

The Great Sunflower Project is still underway in the garden to encourage our local bee population.  For further information about this project which was discussed at the Solstice work day by some visiting SF State students.  Visit their website at http://www.greatsunflower.org/en/august-update

Sheree Kaslikowski is scheduled to be featured in the Art on Market Street program with her picture taken in the Argonne Orchard, and a picture of her Polish grandmother biting into a peach.

The final series, by artist Bihn Danh, called The Wonderful Life of Gardening, will be installed from April 5 to July 1, 2010.  This series incorporates photographic collaborations with San Francisco gardeners, including some of those who tend garden plots under the San Francisco Recreation and Park’s Community Garden Program.

For more photos of Bihn Danh's work see this story from NPR http://www.npr.org/programs/talkingplants/features/2003/danh/index.html

Thanks
On Friday August 28th, a group of students from the Bay School helped repair hoses using discarded bike inter tubes, hosed down the greenhouse and weeded the native boundary area between the Holy Stones region and the school.  Craig, the teacher, had the students read passages from an article about the benefits of community gardening that left the students inspired.
Ed Dierhauf, Sheree Kaslikowski and Kate Boyd? were present to keep the students involved and engaged in garden activities on an exceptionally warm Friday afternoon.

On Saturday August 8th David Sibbet, Ed Dierauf, and Janelee Metz helped clean up formerly Alex Mazel's plot #26 (Janelle Metz) and divide it up into two separate sections.
